Kiku Handmade / Laurie Freivogel
Oak Park, Illinois
“Pushing the boundaries of beauty and functionality inspires me. I draw my greatest inspiration in slower times in my studio when I can experiment with glass-forming techniques and color.”
Artist Laurie Freivogel of Kiku Handmade has been creating screenprinted, fused glass in her Oak Park, Illinois, studio since 2004. Laurie learned screenprinting in art school, but she is a self-taught glass artist. Through extensive experimentation, she has developed a line of colorful and contemporary coasters, platters, bowls and more. Using glass enamels, she screenprints her designs onto colorful sheet glass before fusing in a kiln during multiple firings to create her functional art pieces. Learn more at www.kikuhandmade.com.
