“I love to play with proportions and scale to create my stuffed critters, especially exaggerating the features to evoke a comedic response.”
Duckie Uglings creates handmade, one-of-a-kind softies and ornaments crafted from new and recycled materials in a one-woman, two-cat operation in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Artist Rebecca Jo Malmström uses sewing scraps to stuff her whimsical creatures, including leftover threads and snippets of fabric from masks and caps she constructed for local hospitals and clinics during the early days of COVID-19 as well as Guthrie-donated cotton material from the costume and prop shops.
